    Hispanic Consumers - An Economic Profile

  • Hispanic economic well being is improving at a faster rate than that of non-Hispanics.
  • Hispanic aggregate household income increased six-fold between 1981 and 2001, while it only tripled for non-Hispanics.
  • 31 % (or 3.2 million) Hispanic households have an income that exceeds $50,000.
  • 1.5 million Hispanic households have an income that exceeds $75,000.

    Hispanic Small Business

  • There are more than 1.2 million Hispanic owned businesses in the U.S., which generate more than $200 billion in annual gross receipts and employ more than 1.3 million people.
  • Hispanic and other minority firms, doing business in new industries that are in step with the new economy, are driving the future of small business growth.
  • Most adult Latinos are married couples. Nearly four in 10 (38% or 2.2 million) have an annual income of $50,000 or more. About 1.1 million Hispanic married couple families gave an income of $75,000 or more.
